Mrs. Rupiper: 6 Months!

Dear Ava,

Another month has passed by. You turned 6 months old on April 29th!!! My goodness time flies by!

Daddy took you in for your 6 month appointment last week, You are 19 pounds 5 ounces and 27.5 inches long!! 96% for both! Daddy said you cried when they gave you the liquid stuff, but not when they gave you the shots. You are too funny. That's my girl!

You're currently eating 5-6 ounces of formula every 3-4 hours except at night. It ends up being about 5-6 bottles a day.

You started sitting up supported by only your boppy pillow for a few minutes at a time. You're REALLY good at sitting unsupported on soft surfaces though (the bed, a couch, etc).

You roll over constantly! Any time we lay you down you immediately roll over, except when we put you down in your crib. Its weird how you just KNOW that when we put you in your crib its "back time". I appreciate it though! Saves me the time of rolling you back over.

You love cats and dogs. When Stella, Brody, or Milo walk back in the house you reach out for them and try to grab them. You smile and get excited when they get closer to you. Brody let's you grab him, but once you grabbed him too hard and he got a little upset. No worries though...I'm sure he's already forgotten!

You love blowing bubbles in everything. When we started you off on the rice cereal you were confused, but then one day you started blowing bubbles in it. We got a good laugh out of it, but had to teach you that spoons are for eating food, not blowing bubbles in the food. :) You also started blowing bubbles when we gave you your paci and even if you were just sitting down. You did it for a good week and then stopped blowing the bubbles as much. I'm waiting for you to start up again!

You started really getting the hang of your rice cereal on April 6th. We started you on it twice a day then. You enjoy it the most in the morning when you're super happy, but you still eat it all up in the evening!

You tried your first real food on April 10th! It was carrots. You were NOT a fan. I'm thinking it was the consistency so I'm going to try to puree it a little better this next time. You tried sweet potatoes on April 13th. At first you were confused by the taste, but you gobbled it right up! Success! On April 17th you tried pears for the first time. Again, a little confused and gave a sour face, but you kept on eating! Success again! On April 22nd we tried Bananas. Umm...sweetie, you were IN LOVE with these things. You take right after your mommy. I would eat 5 bananas a day if I could, but that's a little excessive. We tried carrots again this past week and while you DID enjoy them this time around, you ended up with a diaper rash...soo....the verdict? Postpone the carrots a little longer and see if it happens again.

You babble a lot! You love talking. Its ridiculous how vocal you are. I love it now...we'll see about it when you start back-talking!! For now though you say "ma" "ba" "da" "na" and "guh". Recently "nanananana" is the most common thing you say. Its adorable.

Let's not forget the MOST important part of April....your first EASTER!!

You even got to see Gma and Gpa Wicks!!

You got your first tooth on April 21st!!! We were SOOOO proud and excited. You were cranky and crying a bit as it came in, but Gma Rupiper and Aunt Alicia consoled you because mommy and daddy were at Old Chicago. As soon as we found out about the tooth we got home though to check it out. Darling, it is ADORABLE. By the way, your daddy got his first tooth when he was 5 1/2 months old and mommy got hers at 6 months. You got yours at 5 3/4 months!! Crazy how perfect that was.
